L'Oréal Takes AI to the Beauty Industry's Core: From Consumer Advisors to R&D Digital Twins

L'Oréal China made its debut at the World AI Conference (WAIC) showcasing generative AI beauty advisor 3CE GENBA and other AI-driven products. The company is integrating AI across its entire value chain, from product development to customer service, and has trained over 73,000 employees globally in generative AI. L'Oréal is also preparing for the era of agent-based e-commerce with its Beauty Tech Agentic Platform.
L'Oréal China appeared at the World AI Conference (WAIC) for the first time, displaying its first generative AI beauty advisor for offline consumers, called 3CE GENBA, which uses brand knowledge and L'Oréal's AI model to provide personalized product and makeup recommendations. The company also showcased the Hair Digital Twin model, which simulates the effects of different formulations on various hair types in a digital environment, accelerating formula screening three times faster than traditional labs. Additionally, L'Oréal introduced the Longevity AI Cloud, which analyzes over 260 longevity biomarkers using computational biology, and the CreAItech content laboratory for generating marketing content. To support these innovations, L'Oréal has adopted a POC and iterative development approach, improving its AI customer service accuracy from over 80% to over 90%. Internally, over 70% of L'Oréal China employees have taken an AI capability self-assessment in the past month, and globally more than 73,000 employees have completed generative AI training. The company has built the Beauty Tech Agentic Platform to integrate external large models and manage AI agents, and has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with Volcano Engine at WAIC. L'Oréal also launched its second beauty tech hackathon to engage young developers in solving real beauty needs with AI.
