HP has taken a step in its AI strategy by announcing a partnership with OpenAI to integrate the Frontier platform into the core of its organization. This decision follows an exploration phase that began in February 2026. The collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of agentic AI use cases, improve interactions with customers and partners, and optimize internal processes. Prakash Arunkundrum, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer of HP Inc., said that with OpenAI, HP has the opportunity to deeply rethink how AI can create value, and that the Frontier platform should enable HP to offer a more coherent experience across all its touchpoints, including stores, partners, chat channels, and voice. The goal is to provide customers and partners with faster responses, automate certain routine tasks, and make it easier to access solutions suited to their needs. HP plans to deploy AI solutions in several areas, including improving customer and partner interactions, analyzing telemetry data collected via its Workforce Experience Platform (WXP), enhancing employee productivity, and supporting software development teams. Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer of OpenAI, noted that HP illustrates the role AI can play when integrated into the core of a company's systems and ways of working. HP believes these autonomous assistants can contribute to improving innovation and productivity in businesses. In this context, the manufacturer is developing a generation of devices with agentic AI capabilities that can integrate directly with existing business processes and assist teams in their daily activities. HP is also working on devices capable of running AI workloads locally that require permanent availability, equipped with dedicated hardware components, designed to meet continuous inference needs, including 24/7 use cases. The Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) is another pillar of this strategy, allowing HP to centralize the management of workstations, stations, printers, and collaboration tools while exploiting data from the IT fleet. The goal is to give IT departments better visibility into their environments and facilitate the adoption of AI-related uses.
