Google DeepMind presents Gemini for Science: a set of AI tools for scientific discovery

Google DeepMind introduced Gemini for Science, a suite of AI tools and experiments to accelerate scientific discovery. It includes three prototypes: Hypothesis Generation, built with Co-Scientist, which uses a multi-agent 'idea tournament' to generate and evaluate hypotheses; Computational Discovery, built with AlphaEvolve and ERA, which generates and scores thousands of code variations in parallel to test novel modeling approaches; and Literature Insights, built with Google NotebookLM, which searches scientific literature and structures results into tables. These tools are available through Google Labs and are also offered to enterprises via Google Cloud. Companies like BASF, Klarna, Daiichi Sankyo, Bayer Crop Science, and U.S. National Labs are already using them. Additionally, Science Skills integrates over 30 life science databases, enabling complex analyses in minutes. Google is collaborating with over 100 institutions, including Stanford and Imperial College, to validate the systems.
