Godot game engine bans AI content and 'vibe coding'

The developers of the open-source game engine Godot have announced a ban on the use of AI tools for content creation, as well as on 'vibe coding' – a practice where code is written on a whim, without a clear specification. The decision aims to maintain code quality and compliance with licensing requirements.
The Godot team has announced the introduction of strict rules prohibiting the use of artificial intelligence for content generation, including code, assets, and documentation. The so-called "vibe coding" — an approach where the developer writes code based on intuition and mood without prior design — has also been banned. The developers motivated this by the need to maintain high code quality and avoid licensing issues, as many AI models are trained on data with unclear legal status. From now on, all contributions to the project must be written by humans and comply with accepted development standards.
