Salesforce Launches New AI Agent Slackbot to Take on Microsoft and Google in Enterprise AI

On Tuesday, Salesforce launched a completely rebuilt version of Slackbot — the enterprise assistant, turning it from a simple notification tool into a full-fledged AI agent. The new Slackbot, available for Business+ and Enterprise+ customers, can search corporate data, prepare documents, and perform actions on behalf of employees. This is Salesforce's most aggressive move to position Slack at the center of the "agentic AI" movement, where software agents work alongside humans on complex tasks. Parker Harris, co-founder of Salesforce and chief technology officer at Slack, said the new Slackbot is built on an entirely different architecture based on a large language model and a powerful search engine that can access Salesforce records, Google Drive files, calendar data, and years of Slack conversations.
