Yandex has launched a test robotaxi service in Moscow districts, demonstrating its autonomous vehicles handling routes across four areas. The company trained the system to adapt to varying urban conditions, using HD maps, simulations, sensors, and data from millions of kilometers of real rides.
Yandex launched a robotaxi trial across Moscow districts, covering a complex route through Ochakovo-Matveevskoye, Khamovniki, Yasenevo, and Maryino. The autonomous vehicles are trained to adapt to different urban environments, such as narrow streets and unregulated intersections in Khamovniki, high-speed highways and complex interchanges in Ochakovo-Matveevskoye, wide roads and non-standard trajectories in Yasenevo, and dense traffic with circular movement and many scooters in Maryino. The company emphasizes learning from difficult road situations, using HD maps, simulations, sensor systems, and models trained on millions of kilometers of real trips. The test route is part of preparations for a commercial launch, expected by the end of 2026; currently only company employees can use the service via the Yandex Go app, with a test driver in the cabin.
