AI Scheduling System Takes Over Telescope for Autonomous Stargazing
Scientists from Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and Fermilab have developed an AI scheduling system that can take control of a telescope and plan its viewing direction, marking a step toward 'autonomous observatories.' The AI has been installed on the Victor M. Blanco 4-meter Telescope in Chile and is already matching human dispatchers in decision-making capability.
