Japanese cloud service provider SAKURA internet announced a ¥26 billion investment to purchase GPU servers and equipment for generative AI services, including NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 GPU systems. The funds will be raised mainly through loans, with equipment delivery expected by January 2027.
Japanese cloud service provider SAKURA internet (SAKURA internet) announced on July 28 that its board of directors approved an investment of approximately 26 billion yen to procure GPU servers and related equipment for generative AI services. The investment will be used to acquire server rack systems equipped with NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 GPUs, as well as network and storage equipment, to enhance generative AI service capabilities and market competitiveness. SAKURA internet stated that the funding is expected to be raised mainly through borrowings from financial institutions, and the equipment is planned for delivery in January 2027, with the specific commissioning date yet to be determined.
