Google Gemini AI agents can now be configured directly on a smartphone, without corporate subscription

Google is experimenting with expanding control over custom AI agents in its Gemini assistant. Previously, creating and managing AI agents was only possible for corporate Google Workspace users via the web interface, but in version 17.45.14 of the Google app for Android, which serves as a gateway to Gemini, the ability to create and manage AI agents from a smartphone or tablet has appeared. The 'New Agent' option was discovered by Android Authority journalists in the Gemini side panel. Unlike the web interface, where users can describe arbitrary tasks for an AI agent, the mobile app offers only five predefined templates: 'Family Coordinator' for planning household chores and sharing event info, 'Tutor' for help with studies, 'Group Organizer' for trips and meetings, 'Marketing Agent' for social media posts and campaigns, and 'Financial Agent' for expense tracking and bill reminders. It's unclear whether these agents can be customized, but given their personal nature, it's likely Google won't limit them to corporate subscriptions and will make them available to everyone, even free users. Google hasn't made an official comment.
