First Orion, a branded communications company, has transformed its QA automation using Amazon Nova Act, an AI agent that understands web interfaces like a human. This shift from script-based testing to AI-driven agents reduced QA cycles by 20-25 percent and saved 25-30 percent of engineering time, improving test coverage and speeding up releases.
First Orion, a company providing branded calling and messaging solutions to carriers in the US, Canada, UK, and Germany, faced QA bottlenecks as its web applications multiplied. Traditional test automation frameworks like Selenium and Playwright were fragile, breaking with UI changes and requiring days to author new tests. To solve this, they adopted Amazon Nova Act, an AI model that helps QA analysts describe tests in plain English and autonomously executes browser actions. They built an end-to-end system using the Nova Act SDK, with a React-based test authoring UI, test storage in Amazon S3, and a test runner on Amazon ECS with AWS Fargate, delegating browser operations to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Browser. Results showed a 20-25 percent reduction in QA cycles for specific test types, a 25-30 percent saving in engineering time, and over 15 percent increase in test coverage in some cases. They also adopted the Kiro IDE for development and integrated reporting via Allure and Microsoft Teams.
