Federation Council Approves Law on Experimental Legal Regimes in AI

The Federation Council has approved a law that creates a legal framework for experimental legal regimes (ELRs) in the field of artificial intelligence. The law allows for the introduction of special regulations that differ from general legislation for a limited period and in a specific territory, for testing and implementing AI technologies. Participants in ELRs will be able to receive state support and preferences but must comply with safety requirements, including in the area of personal data processing. The document is aimed at accelerating the development of AI in Russia and increasing the competitiveness of domestic developments.
