Spanish Researchers Create a Neuromorphic Sensor That Sees Depth With a Single Lens

IKERLAN, a Spanish technology center, has developed a prototype neuromorphic vision system called BEGI that can determine depth and track motion using just one lens and sensor. It mimics the compound eye of an insect and is designed for robots, drones, and other autonomous machines. Unlike lidars and depth cameras, it operates passively, without emitting laser or infrared pulses.
