China to Send Robot Dogs to the Moon: They Will Mine Water, Build Housing and Support Crews

Chinese engineers have proposed making robot dogs a permanent part of a future lunar base, according to a concept developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and the Beijing Institute of Spacecraft System Engineering. The robots would handle heavy, repetitive and dangerous work, while also providing social support to astronauts in isolation.
