AI Creates 16 New Viruses

For the first time, an AI system has designed entirely new viruses capable of infecting and killing bacteria. AI Creates Viruses Not Found in Nature

Scientists used AI to design viral genomes, resulting in 16 viable synthetic phages that infect bacteria. The AI, trained on DNA libraries, generated thousands of variants, about 300 of which were synthesized and tested, with 16 proving viable.
