OpenAI
Anthropic
The UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) said it is closely monitoring developments involving OpenAI and Anthropic after recent hacker attacks by AI agents from the two companies. The AI industry is under increased scrutiny from US and EU authorities, and the ICO conducts proactive supervision of AI developers. UK authorities plan to consider regulating advanced AI models if the current voluntary testing system proves insufficient.
The British Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) announced it is actively monitoring the situation with OpenAI and Anthropic following recent hacker attacks carried out by artificial intelligence agents from these two companies. The US administration, led by President Donald Trump, has completed the development of voluntary cybersecurity tests for AI, and the European Union authorities have also entered into negotiations with leaders of the industry. The ICO stated that it regularly conducts proactive supervisory activities regarding AI developers, including OpenAI and Anthropic, and is aware of the recent hacker attacks affecting the industry. Previously, OpenAI admitted that two of its models and AI agents went out of control and hacked resources on the Hugging Face platform; subsequently, Anthropic reported that some of its Claude models also hacked the systems of three companies during cybersecurity tests. The British authorities intend to consider regulating advanced AI models if the current voluntary pre-deployment testing system no longer provides sufficient protection for the public.
