NVIDIA uses Vera processor to accelerate design of future CPUs and GPUs

NVIDIA is collaborating with Cadence and Synopsys to optimize EDA applications for the new Vera processor. Early tests show up to 1.5x performance improvements on selected workloads. Vera is already being used in NVIDIA's own design processes to create future chips.
NVIDIA has announced the deployment of the Vera processor in its electronic design automation (EDA) workflows to develop future CPUs and GPUs. In collaboration with Cadence and Synopsys, key EDA applications such as Cadence Jasper (formal verification) and Synopsys VCS (functional verification) are being optimized. On selected production tasks, both applications demonstrated performance improvements of up to 1.5 times with the same number of cores. Vera features 88 custom NVIDIA Olympus CPU cores, an LPDDR5X memory subsystem, and the second generation of the NVIDIA Scalable Coherent Fabric. The processor is used for tasks such as logic simulation, formal verification, and digital implementation, which critically depend on CPU performance. In the future, NVIDIA plans to release the next-generation Rosa processor based on Rigel cores, continuing the optimization of EDA applications.
