Microsoft combines its Copilot apps ahead of a 'super app'

Microsoft is combining its Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot apps into a single unified app, retaining the 'Microsoft Copilot' name with an updated icon. The rollout begins mid-August for mobile and web, and mid-September for Windows and Mac, with Windows Insiders seeing updates this week. User data and chats will be merged for those using both apps, but personal and work accounts will remain separate. Features like Podcasts and Deep Research will be retired after August 18, and some shopping and health features may be temporarily unavailable. The consolidation follows the appointment of a new Copilot chief and reflects a shift towards a commercial-oriented interface.
