Jensen Huang praised Chinese open-source AI models; regulator deepens crackdown on 'internal competition'

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang praised Chinese open-source AI models in an interview with U.S. media on July 22, calling them "very good" and stating they should be used, benefiting the entire industry. He urged not to fear Chinese open-source models, noting that China is rapidly creating cost-effective AI models, which has shocked Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China demanded at a meeting on July 23 to deepen the fight against "involution" (unhealthy competition) and strengthen regulation in key areas. Beijing has released measures to promote the token economy, including support through computing vouchers (subsidies) and launching new commercial models such as token-as-a-service (TaaS), agent-as-a-service (AaaS), and result-as-a-service (RaaS). Additionally, Chinese scientists have for the first time in the world achieved synchronous collection of electroencephalogram signals from over a thousand people across different regions, marking an important step for training neural models and developing brain-computer interface technology.
