Google Tests Removing 'Search in Google' Button for Some Unauthenticated Users, Replacing It with AI Features

Google has begun removing the button that takes users to search results under the query box for unauthenticated users, as noticed by Search Engine Watch. Some users now see shortcuts to AI features instead: image generation, questions to files, and 'brainstorm' with Gemini. The 'I'm Feeling Lucky' button remains. Google Search VP Robbie Stein confirmed on X that the company is running tests with a 'small number of users' on the desktop version. He stated that the changes do not affect the core search functionality; users can still type a query and press Enter or Return to see results, noting that this is how most people search.
