According to Android Authority, Google is taking Gemini to a new level, not just replacing the Assistant but making it able to find problems in smartphone settings on its own. An experimental Android feature called 'Device Help' allows Gemini to check the device's settings when a user complains about issues, rather than just sending them to hunt for options. For example, if a user complains about excessive yellow tint on the display, Gemini analyzes the current settings, identifies that the 'Night mode' is likely the cause, and recommends turning it off, providing a quick link to the specific setting. The feature was spotted on a Google Pixel 9 running Android 17, marked as experimental, with no word on a wider rollout. This shows how AI on a smartphone can be genuinely useful.
