Google DeepMind strengthens Singapore's AI future in new national partnership

Google DeepMind announces expanded collaboration with the Singapore government in a national AI partnership. The partnership covers healthcare, education, science, and sustainable development, including initiatives such as an AI co-clinician, researcher training with Co-Scientist, and the AI for the Planet accelerator program.
Google DeepMind is expanding its work in Singapore through a new national partnership with the country's government, aimed at the responsible deployment of advanced AI for economic growth and public benefit. The partnership covers several key areas. In healthcare and life sciences, DeepMind is collaborating with public healthcare clusters on the AI co-clinician research initiative, which explores how AI can complement doctors' work and lead to 'triadic care' involving AI agents. Together with Google.org, DeepMind is supporting infectious disease research and pandemic preparedness, leveraging AlphaFold and other AI tools to accelerate understanding of outbreaks in Southeast Asia. Additionally, a Gemma-based running assistant is being developed for blind and visually impaired athletes in partnership with SG Enable. To accelerate scientific discovery, DeepMind is working with the National Research Foundation to train local researchers in using agentic AI for scientific tools, including Hypothesis Generation, built with Co-Scientist. In education, DeepMind has provided Gemini for Education to all educators from primary to junior college levels and will train them in using these tools. For sustainability, the 'Google DeepMind Accelerator: AI for the Planet' program in the Asia-Pacific region is being launched to support startups and non-profits using advanced AI to address environmental challenges. Finally, DeepMind is partnering with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and MLCommons to research multimodal and multilingual safety benchmarks that consider local languages and cultures.
