Google Chrome for Android Adds Navigation Bar with Gemini Button

Google has introduced a new navigation bar in the stable version of Chrome for Android, as reported by 9to5Google. The bar, located at the bottom of the screen, contains three buttons: one for opening a new tab, one for switching between open tabs, and one for launching the Gemini AI assistant. If the address bar remains at the top, users see two separate bars; if the address bar is moved to the bottom, the height of the bottom bar doubles to accommodate both. In May, Google promised to integrate Gemini into Chrome, showing a button on the same bar as the address bar and planning a rollout by the end of June, but that did not happen. The new bar is currently being shown on a small number of devices, but it is present in the stable version, not a beta. Google began experimenting with this approach in July, and a similar implementation was at least once spotted in Chrome for iPhone.
