Claude to Leave Invisible Watermarks in Generated Texts

Starting August 2, 2026, the European AI Act requires generative AI providers to make their outputs identifiable. Anthropic has responded by introducing its own watermarking system for Claude, embedding watermarks directly into text, with metadata for image and SVG files.
The European AI Act’s Article 50 mandates that since August 2, 2026, providers of generative AI must make their productions identifiable. In response, Anthropic has unveiled its own marking mechanism for Claude. The company has developed watermarks integrated directly into the text, ensuring generated content can be traced. Additionally, metadata will be provided for image and SVG files to meet the new regulatory requirements.
