Claude Code sessions can now communicate and exchange information

Claude Code sessions can now communicate with each other. Starting with version 2.1.224, sessions on macOS and Linux can send messages to one another. Instead of manually copying information between terminals, Claude can send a text summary to another session. According to Anthropic, this works in both directions: you can ask another session a question and receive the answer directly. Claude can also send a message on its own, for example when a change affects another session's work. Typical use cases include passing insights, coordinating parallel worktrees, and status queries for long-running tasks. On the same machine, communication runs locally; between different machines it goes through Anthropic servers, where only answers are possible. Admins can restrict the feature via settings. It is not available on Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Agent Platform, or Microsoft Foundry.
