ChatGPT Business gets more expensive for power users: OpenAI charges up to $125 per month
OpenAI
OpenAI is raising prices for ChatGPT Business users by introducing premium seats at $125 per user per month ($100 with annual billing), while standard seats remain at $25 per month ($20 annually). Premium users get five times more usage capacity and no five-hour limit, with usage reset weekly. Both seat types can be combined in the same workspace, allowing admins to assign the appropriate tier to each team member.
OpenAI is increasing prices for ChatGPT Business users by introducing so-called premium seats costing $125 per user per month (or $100 per user per month with annual billing). In comparison, existing standard seats remain at $25 per month ($20 annually). Premium users receive five times more usage capacity than standard users and are no longer subject to the five-hour limit; usage is reset weekly. Both seat types can be combined in the same workspace, so admins can assign the appropriate level to each team member. OpenAI justifies the move by stating that teams are increasingly performing complex tasks with ChatGPT and need more capacity. Simply put, agentic AI burns far more tokens. The price increase is not surprising: current flat-rate offers from major manufacturers are primarily loss leaders, and further price increases are emerging, or companies try the opposite approach, as Microsoft did with Copilot, where expensive OpenAI and Anthropic models were partially replaced by cheaper Microsoft models.
