Anthropic updates Claude voice mode with more powerful models

Anthropic announced an update to Claude's voice mode, enabling users to select between Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku models. Previously, the voice mode was limited to Haiku and quick responses. The new version defaults to the last model used in text chat and its fastest version. It can handle longer conversations, provide communication feedback, and integrate with apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion, allowing tasks such as updating meetings or drafting emails. This differentiates it from OpenAI's voice mode, which lacks tool integration. Anthropic also added multilingual support in beta, requiring manual language selection, covering English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin American/Spain Spanish. The update is available to all users in beta, but free users are restricted to Haiku and one connected app. Anthropic did not modify the voice model itself, so no improvements in interruption handling are included.
