According to Bloomberg, Anthropic's second-quarter revenue reached $11.5 billion, up more than 14 times year-over-year. The company also achieved adjusted operating profit, positioning itself for a possible IPO in September or October, ahead of competitors like OpenAI and DeepSeek.
US law prohibits Anthropic, which has filed for an IPO, from openly discussing its financial results during the 'quiet period', but information still leaks to the press. Bloomberg reports that in the second quarter, Anthropic's revenue reached $11.5 billion, a year-over-year increase of more than 14 times. A year earlier, revenue was no more than $787 million, and in the first quarter of this year it was $4.73 billion. As previously noted, by May the annualized revenue extrapolated to $47 billion, suggesting the startup surpasses its main competitor OpenAI in this metric ($40 billion). Additionally, in the second quarter Anthropic managed to achieve adjusted operating profit, important for the sustainability of its revenue model given multi-billion-dollar expenses. Anthropic is preparing to go public in September or October, ahead of not only OpenAI but also DeepSeek, though competition for investor capital with the latter is unlikely due to the separation of US and Chinese stock markets. Excluding special purpose acquisition companies, IPO capital turnover this year could reach $256.4 billion, according to Bloomberg, the highest since 2021.
