Anthropic's Claude Cowork Now Runs in Chrome Side Panel

Anthropic's Claude Cowork now runs directly in the side panel of Claude in Chrome, the company's browser extension. The extension previously read pages, clicked, typed, and filled forms while navigating and collecting information, but now a full Cowork session runs in the panel. This allows using skills, plugins, and connectors in the browser for the first time without setting them up there. Claude in Chrome researches, and Cowork can create Excel files, PowerPoint slides, or reports from that research. Anthropic suggests use cases such as pulling metrics from analytics dashboards, sorting Google Drive, or logging sales calls in Salesforce, and Claude asks before purchases. Sessions are tied to the account, not the device. Anthropic warns about hidden instructions on web pages, noting the plugin remains a potential vector for prompt injections, and advises against using it for banking and health data. The update is available immediately in all paid plans via the Chrome Web Store.
