Anthropic makes Claude Fable 5 permanent in Max and Team Premium subscriptions

Anthropic announced that starting July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium subscription plans at 50% of usage limits. Pro and Team Standard users will continue to access Fable via usage credits and will receive a one-time $100 credit. The decision reverses Anthropic's earlier plan to remove Fable 5 from subscriptions and offer it only through API pricing, a plan driven by compute capacity concerns. Competition from OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 made the original removal plan untenable, as subscribers paying $100-$200/month expected access to Anthropic's best model. Anthropic may need to reduce training efforts to free up GPUs for serving the model. Users on the $20/month plan still do not get Fable 5 access.
