AI in Google Maps Learns to Order Food for Users and Search Hotels

Ask Maps, an AI tool in Google Maps, has gained new features that allow it to order food for users, find suitable hotels, and show offers according to their personal plans. When a user asks Google Maps to order food, the AI considers saved context, including dietary needs, location, and saved places. It can track establishments along the route and select those serving the desired dish, automatically adding it to the cart. Partners include Square and Toast, with Uber Eats joining soon. Another innovation is searching for hotels and local events that match aesthetic or location preferences. Users can describe places or upload photos, and if a schedule is captured, the AI analyzes and updates the data after confirmation. Google Maps integration with the Personal Intelligence platform allows apps to adapt to each user's needs; currently Ask Maps uses Gmail context, with plans to support other services like Google Calendar. Additionally, real-time public transit information is now available, showing arrival times for buses, trains, subways, and ferries; the widget launched in the latest app version and supports data for Australia, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, and Mexico.
