An AI agent for remote monitoring has been developed by Yandex Cloud, the Association of Pediatric Rheumatologists (ASPiRRe), and an ITMO student to assist pediatric rheumatologists in Russia. The agent handles only two narrow tasks, while all risk decisions are made using deterministic rules, ensuring safety. This system aims to improve therapy effectiveness for about 70,000 children with rheumatic diseases.
In Russia, about 70,000 children and adolescents suffer from rheumatic pathologies, where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues, often the joints. Children are typically hospitalized in a federal center about once a year to check their condition and ensure the therapy works, but when they return home, there may be no local doctor familiar with the treatment. Yulia Sheyanova, project manager in healthcare at the Yandex Cloud Center for Technology for Society, describes how Yandex Cloud, together with the Association of Pediatric Rheumatologists (ASPiRRe) and an ITMO student, developed an AI agent for a remote monitoring system. The agent is designed to perform only two narrow tasks, with all risk-related decisions made through deterministic rules, to ensure reliability and safety.
