Moscow's Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development (DPiIR) has announced trials of robot dogs for patrolling infrastructure facilities. The system, developed by Kyu Group, will be demonstrated at the Lomonosov cluster in late August 2026. It has already been tested at the Robot Testing Center of the Moscow Innovation Cluster in Skolkovo and piloted at RANEPA. The robot dogs can autonomously patrol warehouses, construction sites, parking lots, and other areas, detecting people in restricted zones, vandalism, graffiti, smoking, parking violations, and safety rule breaches. The system allows simultaneous control of multiple robots; an operator sets routes and control points, and the robot then operates autonomously using artificial intelligence and computer vision, transmitting real-time information with photo and video evidence. Robots can interact with people, delivering voice warnings or connecting via two-way audio. Depending on the model, they can work up to five hours without recharging and cover up to 10 kilometers, with manual override priority. The first commercial robot dogs appeared in 2016, including Spot from Boston Dynamics and ANYmal from ANYbotics, followed by Chinese manufacturers Xiaomi, Deep Robotics, and Unitree. In 2026, Spot robots are used to inspect SpaceX's spaceport, while ANYbotics devices work at Total Energies and British Petroleum facilities and patrol a spent nuclear fuel storage in Finland. The trials aim to prove the Russian system's readiness for practical use.
