Russian IT Companies Ask Regulator to Allow Using Anonymized Data for AI Training Without User Consent

Russia's Big Data Association, which includes Avito, Sber, Rostelecom, Yandex, and VK, has asked the Ministry of Digital Development to amend personal data legislation to allow processing anonymized data without citizen consent for AI development and training. The association proposes using privacy-enhancing technologies and introduces the concept of a trusted intermediary, while noting that current law treats anonymized data as personal, hindering AI growth.
