Wistron Opens First US Factory for NVIDIA Superchips in Fort Worth

Taiwan-based Wistron has launched a 324,000-square-foot factory in Texas to produce NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra and Vera Rubin superchips. The $700 million investment has created over 500 jobs, with plans to hire 1,000 employees by year-end. The project is part of NVIDIA's commitment to building AI infrastructure in the United States.
Wistron has opened its first manufacturing facility in the United States—the D1 plant in Fort Worth, Texas, covering 324,000 square feet. The inauguration ceremony featured speeches from NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Wistron Chairman Simon Lin. The plant will produce NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra superchips and NVIDIA Vera Rubin. Currently, two production lines are operational, and by the end of the year, the facility plans to produce tens of thousands of boards per month. Investment in the plant reached $700 million, creating over 500 jobs, with plans to expand to 1,000 by year-end. Before construction began, Wistron fully simulated the plant using a digital twin on the NVIDIA platform, employing Nemotron and Cosmos models, Omniverse and Metropolis libraries, as well as the PhysicsNeMo framework. This allowed process optimization and virtual staff training. At the ceremony, the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra superchip produced at the site was unveiled, which Huang autographed. He described the system based on this chip as "the world's most powerful AI supercomputer," consisting of 1.5 million parts, weighing 2 tons, and costing $4 million. The plant is part of NVIDIA's commitment to manufacturing AI platforms in the United States worth up to $500 billion.
