Tencent Merges Multimodal Teams into Unified Foundational Models Department

Tencent announced the merger of its multimodal HUNYUAN department with its large language model department, creating a unified foundational model division. The new structure will be led by Tencent's chief AI scientist, Yao Shuyu. The goal of the reorganization is to improve the efficiency of model research and development, enhance coordination between teams, and move closer to exploring the upper limits of full-modal model capabilities.
