Tencent's Hunyuan research group has unveiled Hyra, a new AI agent designed for scientific discovery. Hyra leverages a recursive self-improvement mechanism, where it iteratively refines its own reasoning and experiment design based on previous outcomes. The agent integrates a large language model backbone with domain-specific modules for hypothesis generation, simulation, and data analysis. In benchmarks, Hyra demonstrated superior performance on tasks like molecular property prediction and reaction optimization compared to existing baselines. Tencent plans to release Hyra as an open-source tool to foster collaboration in the AI-for-science community.
