OpenAI Prepares to Integrate ChatGPT into Third-Party Smart Glasses

OpenAI President Greg Brockman, speaking with journalists in New York, stated that the company is ready to integrate ChatGPT Live into third-party smart glasses. Currently, ChatGPT Live is linked to the Codex application, which generates code based on natural language requests, but Brockman emphasized that such a connection is not necessary. He noted that Codex can fully control computer usage and will only improve at doing so. Brockman believes that the keyboard as an input method is a temporary phase, and that people will interact less with computers through it. OpenAI is ready to provide an application programming interface (API) for integrating its solutions into smart glasses, but these APIs are in an early stage. The company wants the interface to be available on all types of devices. If smart glasses are equipped with cameras, third-party artificial intelligence (AI) applications should have access to them for context processing. Unlike Gemini, which will soon appear in Android XR, solutions from Anthropic and OpenAI currently lack such integration. Some glasses already use indirect access to OpenAI models, but this is inferior to direct interaction. By releasing its own smart devices, OpenAI aims to demonstrate a new approach to problem-solving.
