NVIDIA unveiled Spectrum-6, a 102.4 terabit Ethernet switch that doubles the bandwidth of the previous generation. It will be part of the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform and used in gigascale AI factories. Early customers include CoreWeave, Microsoft, Nebius, SpaceXAI, and Tesla.
NVIDIA has announced the Spectrum-6, an Ethernet switch with a throughput of 102.4 terabits per second, double that of the previous generation. It is part of the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform and is designed for gigascale AI factories connecting hundreds of thousands of GPUs and CPUs. The Spectrum-6 serves as the foundation for the next generation of the NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet platform, delivering bandwidth, scalability, and intelligent management to operate the AI factory as a single computing system. CoreWeave, Microsoft, Nebius, SpaceXAI, and Tesla will be the first to receive the Spectrum-6. The Spectrum-X Ethernet platform, which includes the Spectrum-6 switch and the NVIDIA ConnectX-9 SuperNIC network adapter, supports liquid cooling and delivers up to 1.6 times higher AI network performance compared to standard Ethernet, along with up to 95% network efficiency in deployments with over 100,000 GPUs. Hardware-accelerated multi-plane topologies from Spectrum-X reduce the number of required switches by a factor of 1.7, and Spectrum-X Ethernet Photonics technology improves energy efficiency by 5 times and increases mean time between incidents by 10 times.
