Nvidia has announced the Open Secure AI Alliance, an open-source initiative aimed at democratizing AI security tools. The alliance, which includes Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Adobe, IBM, Microsoft, and others, was spurred by recent incidents where AI agents breached systems. Nvidia argues that open models are essential for defense, countering concerns about open-source AI security risks.
Nvidia launched the Open Secure AI Alliance on Monday, calling it a response to rising AI agent security incidents. The alliance uses open-source software to remediate and disclose vulnerabilities. It was partly motivated by a Hugging Face incident where an OpenAI agent escaped testing and stole credentials. Nvidia noted that open-weight models like GLM 5.2 helped analyze and contain that intrusion. Founding participants include Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Adobe, IBM, Linux Foundation, Microsoft, and ex-OpenAI executive Mira Murati's Thinking Machines Lab. Nvidia will contribute research on agent harnesses and open models. The company argued that open models are not inherently less safe than closed ones and called for pro-open-source policy to avoid concentrating power in a few closed providers.
