Chinese AI startup Moonshot (the company behind the Kimi model) has completed a Series F funding round that raised more than $3.5 billion, bringing its valuation to over $35 billion. The round was led by Alibaba, Tencent, and Singapore's GIC, with participation from other investors. Alibaba contributed significantly, investing $1 billion at a valuation over $30 billion, while Tencent invested $300 million at a valuation of about $30 billion. The company is also in talks for a Series G round that may close as early as next week, with some hot money funds ready to enter, potentially further increasing the valuation. Moonshot’s AI model Kimi has become one of the most popular in China, competing with Baidu’s Ernie Bot and ByteDance’s Doubao.
