Mistral AI Launches Memories (Beta): AI Assistant Memory You Control

Mistral AI has announced the launch of the Memories (beta) feature for its AI assistant Le Chat. The development took user needs into account: transparency (showing exactly what is remembered and where it came from), control (the ability to edit, delete memories, disable the feature, or start an incognito chat), and a focus on tasks (memory should be relevant, not store everything indiscriminately). Le Chat uses a hybrid approach: it automatically saves useful information but, when requested, shows links to sources. Users can view "receipts" — what was used and why. The Memory Insights feature has also been introduced, which offers light hints based on user data, helps identify trends, and reminds users of important moments. In the future, Mistral AI plans to improve memory organization, add sorting by categories, and enable instant forgetting. The system architecture is based on graphs, allowing memory to become smarter over time rather than just longer.
