Mistral AI announced at the AI Now Summit 2026 an AI stack for industrial engineering in partnership with Airbus, BMW, and ASML, updated its Vibe agent for long-horizon tasks, and announced the construction of a data center in France. The company also acquired Emmi to strengthen its scientific competencies in physical AI.
At the AI Now Summit 2026, Mistral AI presented an integrated AI stack for industrial engineering, combining advanced physics models, engineering expertise, and robotics. The solution accelerates design, eliminates simulation bottlenecks, and optimizes asset performance while preserving data control and intellectual property. As part of a partnership with Airbus, AI is being integrated into key operations and processes—from initial design to onboard systems—covering commercial aircraft, helicopters, defense, and space. For BMW Group, Mistral has become the central partner for the 'Large Industry Model' (LIM) initiative, which merges engineering knowledge and AI to create multimodal reasoning models on engineering data, including for crash tests. ASML has begun collaborating with Mistral to optimize the design of high-performance parts, surrogate models, and control loops in advanced semiconductor environments. On May 22, Mistral announced the acquisition of Emmi, adding advanced scientific capabilities to its industrial engineering offerings. The Vibe agent has also been updated; it now handles long-term, multi-step tasks: processing email and calendar, conducting deep research, preparing reports, managing repetitive processes, and taking over coding—from request to merged changes via web application, editor, and terminal. Vibe runs on Mistral's flagship models, optimized for reasoning, agentic tasks, tool calling, and coding. Additionally, Mistral announced the construction of a new data center in Les Ulis (Essonne) with a capacity of 10 MW, dedicated to inference. The facility will open in the third quarter of 2026 and provide direct control over compute resources, enhancing security and transparency as training and inference hardware converge.
