MiHoYo's Cai Haoyu's AI venture changes course: multiple projects halted, ~90% resources shifted to Agents

Cai Haoyu, the founder of miHoYo, has updated his LinkedIn profile to show his new role as an independent large model and agent developer, with his AI company Anuttacon pausing multiple projects. Launched in 2023, Anuttacon aimed to give AI emotions, performance, and human-like interaction, but its ventures—an AI game 'Whispers from the Star', an AI chat app 'AnuNeko', and a video model 'LPM 1.0'—were each halted or discontinued. Resource allocation has shifted significantly, with nearly 90% now focused on LLM development, and the team is pivoting from game content generation to agent-centric system building. Team members have left, with Wu Xiaojian joining OpenAI, Tao Yunzhe joining Microsoft AI, and Zhu Minghao moving to Tongyi Lab. Anuttacon has published a paper on its Agentopia framework, which simulates virtual worlds with 100 agents each, but the paper does not directly mention Anuttacon, though authors are affiliated. While Anuttacon has not officially announced closure, the shift suggests Cai is betting on agents, a direction he is personally pursuing, reportedly working on agents daily and sleeping only five to six hours.
