Meta and BlackRock announced a $14 billion joint venture to develop a data center campus in El Paso, Texas. Meanwhile, China launched a special action to enhance IPv6 capabilities for generative AI large models, co-started by the Cyberspace Administration and leading tech firms.
Meta and BlackRock announced a joint venture to develop a data center campus in El Paso, Texas. BlackRock-managed funds will hold 80% equity, Meta 20%, with total capital spending around $14 billion. Meta will lease the entire campus under an initial 4-year lease with four renewal options up to 20 years. Separately, China's central cyberspace administration, together with local counterparts in Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Shenzhen, and five leading large model companies, launched a special action in Xiong'an New Area to boost IPv6 support for generative AI models. The initiative includes a full single-stack IPv6 deployment plan for Xiong'an, aiming for full IPv6 single-stack operation by 2030 in new zones.
