Former Wall Street Investor Creates 'Hands': LumiBot Closes Multi-Million Round to Develop Tactile Sensors and Software for Robots

Chinese startup LumiBot (拾玥科技) has raised tens of millions of yuan in an angel round to develop dexterous robotic manipulation solutions. The company is developing tactile sensors, micro-motors, and artificial intelligence models for industrial and service applications.
Startup LumiBot (Shiyue Tech), founded in early 2025 by former Wall Street investor Wu Yuwen, has raised tens of millions of Chinese yuan in an angel round from a fund affiliated with a listed company. The funds will be used to expand the team, refine products, establish small-batch production, and collect data and develop models for dexterous manipulation. The company produces four product lines: the high-degree-of-freedom (DoF) robotic hand series Lumi-Dex, fingertip tactile sensors Lumi-Tac, the dexterous manipulation model Lumi-Mind, and the micro-motor module Lumi-Mod. The key differentiator is its proprietary vision-based tactile sensors, which track the deformation of a gel surface through a miniature camera, achieving a spatial resolution of 10 micrometers and force accuracy of 0.02 Newtons. The company also created the world's first micro-hinge module with active cooling, reducing temperature by over 50°C and extending continuous operation lifespan to 5000 hours. LumiBot offers an 11-DoF hand for the mass market (already in small-batch production, with expected annual revenue of 20–30 million yuan) and a 23-DoF flagship version. The company collaborates with major industrial clients, as well as China Unicom and Sieyuan Electric.
