Data Formulator 0.7: open-source AI system for enterprise data analytics

Microsoft Research has released Data Formulator 0.7, an open-source AI-powered system designed for enterprise data analytics. The system addresses fragmented enterprise data workflows by providing Data Connectors that support governed, reusable connections across databases, warehouses, BI systems, object stores, and local files, reducing integration work for platform teams. Context-aware AI agents assist users with data preparation, exploration, visualization, and navigating long-running or branching analytical workflows. The interactive multimodal interface includes a Data Thread for structured chat recording all steps and an interactive canvas for direct visualization editing, allowing teams to refine analyses without SQL or programming expertise. Users can generate reports and share findings, and the project is available on GitHub for adaptation by other teams.
