Claude makes Fable 5 permanent model in Max and Team Premium subscriptions

Anthropic announced that from July 20, 2026, the Fable 5 model will be permanently included in all Max and Team Premium plans, with usage limits set at 50% of standard. Pro and Team Standard users will continue to access Fable through usage credits and will receive a one-time credit of $100. Previously, Anthropic planned to remove Fable 5 from subscriptions and make it available only through the API, but competition from OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and possibly Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 made that plan unviable. The company feared that users would not pay $100–200 per month for a subscription without the best model. The initial decision was related to computing power constraints; now, Anthropic may have to cut back on training to allocate more GPUs for serving the model. Many users were worried about losing access to Fable 5, but those concerns have now been alleviated. However, it is worth noting that users on the $20 per month plan still will not get Fable 5 as part of their subscription.
