Apple's Answer to Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Expected in 2026

Apple is reportedly working intensively to release its smart glasses by the end of 2026, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Mass production of prototypes is expected to begin this year at foreign suppliers. Earlier, Gurman mentioned Apple is developing its own chip for the glasses, with mass production planned for next year. The development is led by the Vision Products Group, which also developed the Apple Vision Pro. The glasses will include cameras, microphones, and speakers, analyze the environment, and handle requests via Siri, with features like phone calls, music playback, live translations, and navigation. The model is said to resemble Meta's product but be more premium. Initially planned for 2027, Apple moved the timeline up to close the gap with competitors. Meta has sold about two million Ray-Ban Meta Glasses since 2021 and plans new models in the fall. Google is also working on smart glasses with Android XR, partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. The key challenge for Apple remains its AI capabilities, as Meta and Google market their glasses as AI devices, and Apple's success depends on Apple Intelligence's performance.
