Alphabet's stake in Anthropic grows to $124.3 billion

According to a Bloomberg report, Alphabet (Google's parent company) has increased its stake in the startup Anthropic to $124.3 billion. In its financial report, Alphabet indicated an asset increase of $77 billion in the second quarter without disclosing details on private investments. The initial investment in Anthropic was made in 2023 for $3 billion. This year, it was decided to increase the investment volume by $40 billion, of which $30 billion will be paid in installments until 2030 upon meeting certain conditions. Apparently, in the past quarter, Alphabet transferred another $10 billion to Anthropic, leaving $20 billion to be paid. The current value of Alphabet's stake is close to $124.3 billion. Anthropic plans to go public this year, which could increase the value of Alphabet's shares. Despite developing its own AI models, Google continues to invest in competing startups. Anthropic's market capitalization was estimated at $965 billion as of May this year.
