Alibaba's chip development division, Ping Tou Ge, has announced the open-sourcing of its proprietary AI software platform, T-Head SAIL. At the WAIC 2026 conference, Ping Tou Ge (a subsidiary of Alibaba) announced the open-sourcing of its AI stack T-Head SAIL (Seed of AI Library). This is a full software stack for the Zhenwu series AI chips, including drivers and runtime, a programming language layer (C/C++, Python), a compiler with debugger, high-performance libraries, and developer tools. A key feature of SAIL is its full compatibility with existing frameworks: at the time of the announcement, it supports over 260 frameworks, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, vLLM, and SGLang. Developers do not need to rewrite code, wait for adaptation, or be tied to a specific platform. The stack has already been validated in real-world deployment: a total of 560,000 Zhenwu chips have been shipped, serving more than 400 customers across 20 industries, including peak loads for Alibaba Cloud on Singles' Day (11.11). The company claims that the adaptation time for new AI models averages less than 7 days. Open-sourcing the code aims to break the 'black box' of traditional AI stacks, providing developers with access to source code for debugging and optimization.
